I recently worked with Hendrik on his excellent script The Existential Hotline. A short film he directed himself to raise money for the NHS. I agreed to do the film based on his writing and script. As it was to a specific remit, I was immediately impressed by the format he exploited so deftly to convey broad and salient themes during these unprecedented times. The nods to well-known philosophers and their writings married seamlessly with a very modern and contemporary setting and themes of the human condition.

As a director he was clear, concise, supportive and crucially for me ‘moved on’ when he’d got what he needed from the actors. I couldn’t fault his editorial choices.

Since working together we have shared each other’s work and I’ve been lucky enough to plunder his brilliant mind for smart and inciteful notes on my own scripts. We intend to work together again soon and I very much look forward to developing a working relationship with Hendrik in the future.

Hendrik is one of the most brilliant minds I’ve had the pleasure of working with. His style of storytelling is incredibly intelligent, questioning the status quo and sparking conversation and thought through his art.

He directs in a concise, thoughtful and collaborative manner and his experiences in acting shine through in the way he is able to communicate and empathise with actors.

Considering we never met on The Existential Hotline, which we filmed from home remotely during lockdown, I’m beyond excited to work together again and to watch him grow into the powerful filmmaker he’s becoming.

Working with Harms Way was a highlight of my career so far, I worked on “All That You Love Will Be Carried Away” and it will remain one of my favourite projects for a long time to come. Hendrik’s passion is infectious and makes working with him an absolute joy.

Their professionalism, drive and unique creative outlook gives each project originality. As actors we were encouraged to be playful and explorative which enabled us to create a rapport quickly within the group and ultimately bring more to our characters.

Harms Way Studios is a multi talented production company led by the fantastic Hendrik Harms – a very charismatic individual with a wealth of talent within writing, acting and directing.

It was an absolute pleasure to work with Harms Way Studios on their adaptation of Stephen King’s “All That You Love Will Be Carried Away”. The team is incredibly passionate about every aspect of filmmaking, very caring towards their cast and they provide the best environment to work in. I see a very bright future ahead for HWS and I look forward to working with them again.
